About

HEIMAT ATLANTICA is, above all, a cultural project, weaving tradition into modernity through the lens of art history, design, and a collage of space, conventions, and time.
Founded in Paris in 2016 by Montserrat Álvarez, an art historian, the brand was born from a deep passion to create a 100% made-in-Europe label committed to preserving and transforming the unique know-how of craftswomen from the Atlantic coast of northern Spain and Portugal.
Envisioned as a socially responsible, accessible-luxury handmade accessories brand, HEIMAT ATLANTICA works to foster everything that makes it unique: authenticity, sustainability, quality, support for culture, uniqueness, and exclusivity.
The brand gained recognition with its first project, the HEIMAT TALISMAN: a limited edition of handbags handcrafted as a cultural collage. Traditional handwoven reed baskets from Portugal, fine Spanish leatherwork, and porcelain talismans from Sargadelos, each imbued with symbolic meaning, such as attracting love.
Since then, HEIMAT ATLANTICA has achieved an international presence, with renowned stockists including Matchesfashion, The Webster, Le Bon Marché, Colette, Barneys New York, and Dover Street Market Ginza. In 2018, the brand launched an exclusive bag in collaboration with the Japanese label Comme des Garçons and in 2023 with Zara Home.
